Hola, buenos dias amigos! — The Avalanche Summit II was breathtaking, and we made the most of every moment.
In the enchanting city of Barcelona, a Mediterranean City on the coast of northeastern Spain. We had the opportunity to enjoy one of the best crypto events of the year for three days, the Avalanche Summit.
With more than 3000 attendees and more than 300 speakers, the event was the perfect hub for enthusiasts, developers, artists, and TradFi people to find out about new projects, hear some of the greatest minds of the ecosystem, and party together!
Our team started its journey to Barcelona from Mexico; we took a team picture before departing to prepare for the adventures we would go through in the second edition of the Avalanche Summit.
Exploring the Avalanche Summit II
Arriving at Poble Espanyol, we were welcomed by an exceptionally warm and efficient staff who guided us toward the venue’s entrance.
The Summit started with an inspiring speech delivered by John Wu, the president of Ava Labs. Dr. Emin Gün Sirer, the founder and CEO of Ava Labs, then took the stage, welcoming everyone with warmth and setting the tone for the event, followed by a powerful and exciting speech about the vast potential of Avalanche within the crypto ecosystem and beyond, emphasizing its power to reach mass adoption and revolutionize finance with a new era of financial products.
Shortly after the speech, our team had the honor of meeting Dr. Emin Gün Sirer and other members of the Ava Labs team. We engaged in a conversation about Blockpay, during which Dr. Emin showed his knowledge of our product and expressed his curiosity to try our product.
It was a truly moving experience as we exchanged insights and ideas, solidifying our shared vision for the future of blockchain technology; this showed us the value of our efforts and validated the countless hours of hard work and commitment we have invested in the project.
Following this, we had a nice chat with Hushky, a member of Ava Labs’ Growth & Strategy team, with whom we could talk about our product and how it is structured, uncovering exciting opportunities for new business and development lines in collaboration with Ava Labs.
In celebration of the new partnership, our team joined Hushky for a symbolic shot of tequila, in which we were delighted to use Blockpay’s international card to pay, demonstrating not only the efficacy of our payment solution but also showing our confidence in its ability to streamline transactions on a global scale.
After this, Avery Bartlett, content creator for Ava Labs, did a brief interview in which we introduced our team, showcased our groundbreaking product, and demonstrated how we are making blockchain technology more accessible to a wider audience beyond the blockchain ecosystem. In the interview, we also shared our vision of becoming leaders in blockchain adoption in LATAM, aiming to inspire others to build products to develop blockchain innovation in the region.
Following the interview, we immersed ourselves in the event. At the same time, we connected with other projects of the Avalanche ecosystem, taking every chance to share our story and spread awareness to generate interest in Blockpay, also exploring new potential partnerships. These projects include GoGoPool, DeltaPrime, BenQi, Covalent, and AchieveMint, with whom we participated in their captivating treasure hunt: “Alice in Avaland,” of which we were part of during the three days of the Avalanche Summit.
During the event, we could feel an inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for conversations and networking, as the mellow music in the background, combined with the vibrant energies transmitted by a community united by shared interests in blockchain technology, decentralization, and product innovation created a synergy across the entire event, encouraging the communication between users and projects to talk about business, build new partnerships and drive progress within all the blockchain ecosystem.
Throughout the entire Summit, we had the opportunity to showcase two things, the product we have been building over the years and our vision, not only for Blockpay but also for the future of finance as a whole, in which we proudly play an essential role.
The food during the event was outstanding, with multiple stations covering the vibrant flavors of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine, giving us a gastronomic tour through different dishes from the region, starting with the famous tapas, up to the more sophisticated dishes such as the mouthwatering paella, leaving us inspired to keep exploring more gastronomic treasures from this region.
The event was also a great opportunity to connect with team members who reside outside of Mexico. We enjoyed spending time together, celebrating our accomplishments, and rejoicing in anticipation of what was next for the project.
Unveiling the Future
The event featured a lineup of over 300 speakers and hosted more than 125 panel discussions that covered a wide range of topics related to blockchain technology and its diverse applications, both inside and outside the Avalanche ecosystem.
One notable panel was titled “Coin-Operated Agents: Bringing the AI Revolution to Blockchains,” delivered by Dr. Emin Gün Sirer. During this talk, he delved into the groundbreaking concept of AI-operated agents capable of processing transactions expressed in natural human language through the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) directly implemented into the blockchain infrastructure, exploring the intersection between artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, highlighting exciting possibilities for the future.
Crypto Nights: Partying Through the Ecosystem
It’s not all about crypto; it’s also about the party: Every night, after a long day connecting with people from the ecosystem in Poble Espanyol, a private party awaits somewhere in Barcelona.
A few projects hosted exclusive parties, each showcasing their unique brand, as was the case of Trader Joe with their Frens Party II, or the Skullz & Chikn Party (a collaboration between Chikn and Madskullz) and the legendary Avalanche Summit II After Party hosted by Ava Labs were among the highlights. This one took place in a vibrant dance club inside Poble Espanyol, adding a touch of enchantment to the entire experience.
We enjoyed attending some of these parties and had a good time with the people we connected with during the event, meeting once again at one of those parties with part of the Ava Labs team with whom we had again the opportunity to share a few shots of tequila to celebrate our future alliance.
Exploring Barcelona
In addition to our time at Poble Espanyol, we made sure to explore different iconic landmarks in Barcelona, including the renowned Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Park Güell, and other prominent attractions that were on our must-visit list before departing.
While immersing ourselves in the city, we realized that Barcelona is the perfect city to host the Avalanche Summit. Its breathtaking architectural style, beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural diversity make it a dynamic metropolis that draws people from every corner of the globe.
Continuing the Journey
After a long and rewarding week in Barcelona, we returned home, inspired to continue shaping the future of finance. With the powerful financial tools offered by Blockpay and the cutting-edge technology provided by Avalanche, we are driving adoption forward, revolutionizing the financial landscape with each step we make.
